Heating Oil FAQ

Q : How are you involved with Crisis Control?

We provide delivery & service for those who can not afford it. We also providepump-outt services.
Delivery and Service: Customers can call Crisis Control directly and then Crisis Control will call us to put in 100-150 gallons of Fuel Oil/K-1/Propane. If a customer calls us and owes a balance/can’t afford a delivery, we may sometimes direct them to Crisis Control.
Pump Outs: We will pump out a tank and credit the gallons in the tank to Crisis Control. (i.e., If we pump out 100 gallons of fuel oil from a customer’s tank and credit that amount at today’s price, then we will credit Crisis Control a sum of $379.90 plus tax on their account -and the customer will be able to write this off on their taxes.) This is a positive for obvious reasons on the “Charitable level”, but it is also an advantage for a customer who is looking to get a tank pumped out, but is not willing to pay the $299.00 flat fee involved in a pump out.

Q : What is the minimum delivery?

      • 100 gallons for next day delivery.
      • 150 gallons for same day delivery. Same day delivery also requires a $39 service fee.
      • Again our regular business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. If ordered after hours or after 4:00pm, the minimum is 200 gallons and a service charge

Q : How do I know how much fuel is currently in my tank?

Use a stick to measure the number of inches in your tank and convert those inches to gallons using the tank conversion chart. Keep in mind that your fuel line is raised a few inches (usually 3″ – 6″) from the bottom of your tank. Contact us for more information.

Q : Is there an added ‘delivery charge’ to bring the oil out?

No, there is not an extra charge to bring the oil.

Q : What are my payment options for a C.O.D. account?

You can pre-pay for a certain gallon amount over the phone with a credit card (Visa or MasterCard). You may also leave a credit card on file with customer service to use for your deliveries or you may you’re your payment directly to the driver.

Q : How energy efficient is it to heat my home with oil?

Very! The average oil heating system consumes less fuel than gas, and oil burners produce the most efficient flame when compared to gas systems. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, oil heating systems are 16% more efficient than gas heating systems and 30% more efficient than electric heating systems.

Q : Will oil heat keep my home warm enough?

Absolutely. The oil heat flame quickly burns at 2,200 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the reason oil consumers are much more comfortable in their homes versus those who complain that their electric heat pump does not provide the comfortable warmth of oil during those cold days of winter.

Q : Is heating oil safe?

Unlike gaseous fuels, heating oil will not support a flame unless the temperature is above 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Even at those temperatures, there is not enough fuel vapor to cause an explosion.

Q : Why have oil prices been so high lately?

There are several reasons for the increase in oil prices in recent years: Natural disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, combined with steady, continued growth in world demand, the ongoing threat of political instability in major oil-producing countries, and the rising influence of financial institutions speculating in the oil markets have all affected oil prices. Talk to us about ways to offset increased oil prices with more efficient heating systems and easy to manage smart pay plans.

Q : Do you offer tank removal services?

Yes, we provide tank removal services to residential customers. Click here to read more.
